When
it comes to the perfect finish, many homeowners prefer the high-gloss look that
is so common. However, there are other options, many of which can even hide
signs of wear and aging. Vintage, distressed, and hand scraped finishes, for
example, do an excellent job of hiding scuffs, scratches, and other signs of
wear that can make your floors look old and dated.
Once
wear does become an issue, you can simply schedule a refinishing to bring them
back to life. Refinishing strips off decades of wear, making it look as if
you’ve had brand new flooring installed. If you prefer, you can even choose to
change your stain color and finish at this time, to create a brand new look to
go with a new decor scheme, or just for something a little different.
